Losing The Light

Long exposure photograph of the Humber Bridge at night with long, shimmering reflections

This image is a departure from my usual wide angle, landscape format but once again the high tide and perfect stillness of the River Humber provide perfect conditions for a stunning image.

Silhouetted in the diffused light of the streetlights, the south tower of the Humber Bridge looms above the long shimmering reflections cast by the lights of the south bank. The reflected lights are all the more spectacular for their saturated colours and the soft, smearing effect of the long exposure in the foreground.

This image was shortlisted for the Landscape Photographer of the Year prize, appearing in the accompanying book and exhibition at the National Theatre.
