Standing In Line Like Everyone Else

Photograph of decaying timber staithes at Hessle Haven East Yorkshire

Rotten staithes at Hessle foreshore mark the entrance to Hessle Haven. This was taken the first time I visited with a camera back in 2007. Since then I have been back several times. These decaying timbers have become one of my favourite subjects – despite their stark beauty and proximity to the famous Humber Bridge they are just a little too far off the beaten track for most photographers.

A print of this image was exhibited in the Ferens Open Exhibition 2007.
